Dark clouds

NEWS IN the past week has only added to the Rover workers' uncertainty. Workers at Land Rover thought they were to be sold off to Ford. Now car rival General Motors might put in a bid.

Workers at Rover's research and design plant in Gaydon, Warwickshire, are also to be sold off. If Ford buys Land Rover, the Gaydon works will go with it. As much as half the workforce could be sacked.
