J18

ANGEL MAKOLY, a student, has been jailed for two years on violent disorder charges arising out of the J18 demonstration against capitalism in the City of London last summer.

He was videotaped at the time and then arrested at the 30 November protest against the World Trade Organisation at Euston station. Judge George Bathurst-Norman said he should serve his sentence and then be deported. He said, "I bear in mind that he gets carried away. If he is going to get carried away he can get carried away in Spain." This is the latest case arising from J18 where those convicted have faced heavy sentences.

  • Socialist Worker will circulate further J18 prisoners' addresses if they are sent to us.
