Postal workers at the Burslem delivery office in Stoke-on-Trent have voted overwhelmingly for strike action in defence of 12 colleagues who have been victimised by Royal Mail for standing up to bullying management.
The long running dispute has seen a series of union reps singled out for attack, until 10 percent of the entire office had been suspended from work.
The postal workers’ CWU union now plans to meet with Royal Mail in a last ditch attempt to end the victimisations before embarking in a series of strikes.
“The result shows how strong feelings are about this,” a spokesman for the union branch told Socialist Worker. “If Royal Mail don’t see sense, we’ll take action – and we won’t be messing about with one day strikes, we’ll hit much harder than that.”
