There were groups of bus workers on the Harrow demonstration from at least four local garages.
Hussein Maike, the Unite union chair at Harrow garage, told Socialist Worker that more than a dozen drivers had come from there.
“We all live in this area,” he said.
“I have been here for 20 years.
“We want to show that we are united against racism.
“These people who want to infect the area with racism are threatening the future for our kids.”
Hitesh, a driver from Harrow Wealde garage, said he had turned out to show solidarity.
“I’m a Hindu myself,” he explained. “But I want to show support with the Muslims in Harrow. The racists just want to stir up trouble.”
