Murdoch's empire grew and grew

News Corp is an enormous multinational with media and entertainment outlets across the globe.

Its profits from television soared by 150 percent in the last three months of 2010—it made £385 million in those three months alone.

It owns more than 200 newspapers as well as websites, broadcasting stations, publishing houses and magazines.

These include numerous Fox broadcasting firms and BSkyB. In Britain, News Corp owns The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times and the late News of the World.

In the US, News Corp owns The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post.
