London meeting called on Murdoch, Cameron, police crisis

What began as the “phone hacking” scandal has grown to engulf three key pillars of the establishment: the Murdoch media empire, the Metropolitan police and the Tory government.

On Tuesday 26 July Tony Benn, National Union of Journalists general secretary Michelle Stanistreet and others will come together at a meeting called by NUJ members, and supported by Defend the Right to Protest, to discuss the implications.

This crisis is inseparable from the wider political and economic chaos facing the ruling class. For many working class people it will expose the undemocratic elite who expect us to pay for the crisis while they cover up for each other’s corruption and greed.

The high profile resignations also add to the sense that the government and its allies are weak, and thus strengthen the determination and confidence of working class people to fight back in the autumn, continuing the strike movement of 30 June.
