Around 150 people packed into a House of Commons committee room last Tuesday to build the campaign against Tory attacks on housing rights.
Ken Loach, whose film Cathy Come Home exposed the lack of access to homes in 1966, spoke at the meeting.
'Whole areas are being cleared of people who can't afford to pay the extortionate market rents,' he said.
The meeting was organised by Defend Council Housing as part of its Housing Emergency campaign, now backed by a number of tenants' federations.
