The official Greek independence day celebrations last Sunday were another disaster for the government.
In Athens the traditional military parade took place—but the thousands of police keeping the area free of protesters were the only onlookers.
Instead, demonstrations took place across Greece as the authorities failed to stop them. In Crete the parades were cancelled due to protests and the officials were led away.
In an attempt to divide the movement, the government announced plans to set up 30 camps for illegal immigrants.
These would have a total capacity of 30,000—to mop up any migrant with out the correct papers.
But the announcement has already been met with protests—and there will be more to come.
