The leadership of the NUT teachers’ union last week voted against regional strikes on 10 May and didn’t reaffirm a conference decision to strike in June.
The union’s annual conference had backed both these things.
Many teachers have twinned with striking workplaces to support strikers.
In London a number of NUT associations have called a protest over imposed pension contribution rises.
