Ewan McLennan, CD out now on Fellside
Ewan McLennan’s new album draws primarily on Irish and Scottish folk music. His concern for political justice is evident throughout.
“Joe Glenton” is a tribute to the conscientious objector and anti-war activist, while “Whistling the Esperanza” takes the theme of Chilean miners trapped in the San José mine to explore issues of solidarity and exploitation.
The lyrics are powerful and sensitive, with beautiful playing. This is engaged and engaging folk that deserves a wide audience.
