No to war criminal Blair at UCL

Over 100 people joined a lively protest organised by Stop the War against Tony Blair speaking at University College London.

Blair spoke on Tuesday of this week at the inaugural conference of the UCL Institute for Security and Resilience Studies.

Veteran peace activist Bruce Kent told protesters that anti-war activists “will continue to haunt Tony Blair for a long time”.

Chants of “Blair lied, millions died” echoed round the quad at UCL as protesters handed in a 3,000-strong petition to the university management opposing the decision to let Blair speak.

David Lawley-Wakelin, who interrupted Blair at the Leveson Inquiry and called for Blair to be put on trial over Iraq, also addressed the crowd.

He said that the establishment was trying to turn a blind eye to a former prime minister who was a war criminal.

David is facing trial later this week, charged with causing Blair “harassment, alarm or distress” at the Leveson Inquiry.
