Railway signallers across Scotland could walk out to support signallers in Stirling.
The RMT union says it will ballot hundreds of signallers across Scotland.
The Stirling signallers are demanding 12-hour rosters.
They say this will provide a safer and more efficient service.
They were set to strike over the demand on Saturday of this week.
Bus drivers in the Isle of Man were set to strike from 1 to 6pm on Thursday of this week.
The Unite union members are fighting cuts to their wages of up to £3,000 a year.
Talks between Unite and the Isle of Man government, which employs the drivers, broke down on Thursday of last week.
Further strikes are planned over January, February and March.
Some 55 activists met in Glasgow last Saturday.
Union members from Unison, Unite, EIS, UCU, FBU and the PCS were there along with activists from refugee and other campaigns.
They decided to organise a Unite the Resistance Scotland conference at the beginning of March.
They also agreed to mobilise for a protest against the proposed closure of learning disability day centres on Wednesday of next week.
The Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign has called a protest for Saturday 26 January.
They are fighting cuts and closures that will force people to travel miles to the nearest A&E or maternity unit.
The protest takes place before health minister Jeremy Hunt makes a final announcement about the cuts next month.

Lorry drivers employed by DHL on a contract for Howden Joinery Group protested on Friday of last week at Howden’s headquarters in central London.
Some 53 drivers employed in Widnes have been given 30 days notice of redundancy.
Their Unite union is planning further protests.
