Health cuts put lives at risk

A new study has highlighted the dangers of government cuts to health and safety workplace inspections.

Professor Rory O’Neill’s report said, “Whether your job is making people better or making plastics, don’t expect a government safety inspector to call.

“The majority of workplace deaths now occur in sectors officially excused from unannounced inspections by the safety regulator”.

Some 37 of these sectors employ the majority of the workforce in Britain.
