Pensioner left to die after police raid

A woman in her 80s was found close to death last week, after cops shut down her care centre.

She normally got four visits from carers a day. But she’d been alone for over a week when a district nurse found her by chance. She had kidney failure, bed sores and only a faint pulse.

Surrey county council had outsourced home care to private firm Carefirst 24. But cops and the border agency raided it last month on suspicion of employing illegal migrants.

Who needs A&E?

How could the Tories possibly get away with closing so many A&E departments? One possibility is to abolish all A&Es first.

A leaked document from a new NHS review suggests replacing all A&Es with “999 departments” or “111 departments”.

This would also allow many of them to be “adapted” without the A&E closure headlines.
