Bosses at Mid Yorkshire hospitals NHS trust have extended by three weeks the deadline for medical secretaries and admin workers to accept “downbanding” wage cuts.
This follows a five-day strike earlier this month and two strikes last year.
Karen, a senior medical secretary, told Socialist Worker, “This is the first sign of some movement.
“But now they have suggested cutting hours instead of downbanding.”
They expect workers to find ways to save the £500,000 that bosses insist are necessary.
“We want the work that is being farmed out to agency staff,” Karen added. “If we can’t agree by 28 February we will ballot the whole branch.”
The branch covers 3,000 workers and includes ancillary staff and nurses.
