'Truly British' and in the dark

The “truly British family” of James and Emily Bradshaw is determined to go a year without buying anything foreign. It’s not going well.

They spent a whole week finding patriotic enough dishwasher tablet.

They’re trying to work out what to do without AA batteries.

And in the time they’ve spent looking for a light bulb “which does meet our required level of ‘Britishness’,” more than half the bulbs in the house have conked out.

“At least energy bills will be down,” said James.
